Listed Buildings
Are you confused by listed building legislation?
As Shropshire has a good number of listed buildings, in particular the County town of Shrewsbury, we are naturally very experienced in dealing with the complex planning issues that restrict alterations and extensions etc to listed buildings.
We can negotiate with Conservation Officers and English Heritage on your behalf in order to agree an acceptable scheme and go on to prepare and submit listed building and planning consent. For complicated issues we can liaise with specialist architects to produce a solution acceptable to the LPA. We will monitor the applications through to determination keeping you informed and updated along the way.
We can also advise clients on ‘enabling’ developments designed to produce income for maintenance and refurbishment of listed buildings. An example of this is illustrated below where consent was obtained to convert a vacant Grade II listed building to residential use together with an associated development of the conversion of an existing former barn outbuilding to provide 2 no. dwellings and the erection of 7 no. new dwellings at the former Cock Inn, Stableford, Newcastle under Lyme, Staffordshire.

Pictured right is 15/16 Mardol which is Grade II* Listed Building situated within the centre of Shrewsbury. This practice obtained planning permission for the conversion of the 1st and 2nd floors from retail store rooms to residential apartments.
